    I'm 80% liberal, 20% conservative but it is very american and unsophisticated.

    This is because the US term Liberal doesn't mean the same as we mean.
    I find some US Liberals to be more socialists and some US Conservatives to be far more liberal in some areas.

    On social issues, the two 'liberalisms' are probably aligned, but on pretty much everything else they are split...
    The British Liberal in the US has a hard time, the closest would be the Libertarians, but they're normally too unwilling to accept any state intervention, even when we'd say it was necessary...
